ULTRASLAB
ULTRASLAB is equipment for automated non-destructive testing of continuously cast billets (slabs) in the cold and hot state, at temperatures of up to 1000 °C.

EQUIPMENT FEATURES
- Ultrasonic testing with electromagnetic acoustic transducers (EMAT);
- automatic detection of surface defects on both sides of the continuously cast billet (slab);
- automatic detection of internal defects in the continuously cast billet (slab);
- automatic detection of cracks in the slab edge zone;
- additional scanning of the slab surface with high-temperature laser triangulation 2D scanners.
MAIN EQUIPMENT SPECIFICATIONS
| Slab width | up to 2400 mm |
| Slab thickness | up to 320 mm |
| Slab temperature | up to 1000 °C |
| Types of typical defects to be detected |

MEASURING MODULE DESIGN
Similar to the ULTRAPLATE measuring module: in-line or off-line (separate area) configuration.
Additionally equipped with a system for continuous laser scanning of the entire slab surface with 2D scanners to detect local slab surface anomalies.
Laser 3D scanning of the slab surface for local surface anomalies (defects).

EQUIPMENT LOCATION
Two installation options are possible:
- In a separate non-destructive testing area (for example, in the slab yard);
- In-line after the continuous casting machine (CCM), immediately after the strand is cut into slabs, at slab temperatures of up to 1000 °C.
