The conference was opened with welcoming addresses to the participants by the First Deputy Mayor of Cherepovets Aleksandr Sergeyevich Sergushev, Doctor of Engineering Sciences Mikhail Vladimirovich Grigoryev, General Director of ULTRAKRAFT JSC Vladimir Aleksandrovich Britvin, and Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Stepanov (Technical Director of OAO Severstal from 2000 to 2007). The Governor of Vologda Oblast, Oleg Aleksandrovich Kuvshinnikov, sent a letter of welcome.
In the first part of the conference, ULTRAKRAFT JSC presented ultrasonic non-destructive quality testing systems ready for shipment to customers: the plate flaw detection system ULTRAPLATE, the large-diameter pipe quality testing system ULTRAPIPE, and the system for non-destructive geometry testing of large-diameter pipes ULTRAMETRIX, a project of ULTRAKRAFT JSC. Also presented were the AVTOKON system for field ultrasonic testing of circumferential welds of large-diameter pipes, developed jointly with Bauman Moscow State Technical University, and a flash butt welding machine developed in cooperation with YugStroyMontazh CJSC. Conference participants were shown a test bench on which a piece of a real slab with real defects was used to demonstrate the operating principle of the slab ultrasonic flaw detection system ULTRASLAB.
The second part of the conference was devoted to presentations explaining the technologies used in the systems shown earlier.
