On 25 September 2013, the qualification of the automated ultrasonic testing system for plate and strip (skelp) ULTRAPLATE ("ULTRA-PE75P.002") to the DNV standard was completed.
With the automated ULTRAPLATE system manufactured by ULTRAKRAFT JSC, for the first time in the world, EMAT technology for testing plate used in the production of large-diameter oil and gas trunk pipeline pipes has successfully passed DNV qualification for compliance with the requirements for automated ultrasonic testing of plate for critical applications.
The DNV qualification comprised a whole series of tests confirming that the system is capable of performing ultrasonic testing of plate to the standard specified in the product supply requirements for projects such as "South Stream". The tests were carried out at the ULTRAKRAFT JSC production facility (Cherepovets) and at Plate Mill Shop No. 3 (LPTs-3) of the Cherepovets Steel Mill (Kolpino).
