From 22 to 30 April, specialists of ULTRAKRAFT JSC successfully commissioned new equipment at Plate Mill Shop No. 3 (LPTs-3) of the Cherepovets Steel Mill (CherMK) of OAO Severstal: the ultrasonic plate testing system ULTRAPLATE.
The non-destructive quality testing equipment is based on EMAT technology and can detect not only internal defects in plates, which is standard for similar systems, but also surface defects, which is a truly cutting-edge technology in heavy plate production. It should be noted that the equipment can test plate at temperatures of up to 720 °C.
